Ceremony

Under Italian law, a Catholic wedding ceremony is the only religious ceremony the law recognizes.  Because we are not Catholic, there will be two ceremonies.  A civil ceremony and church ceremony

Civil Ceremony (ATTENDANCE OPTIONAL)

The civil ceremony will take place at Palazzo Vecchio in Sala Rossa at noon.

Church Ceremony
Our church ceremony will take place at St. Mark’s English Church, located at Via Maggio, 16, 50125 in Florence at 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

Fun Facts about the Church

  • St. Mark’s English Church opened its doors for worship in 1881. From the outset, its purpose was to offer a subscription-free welcome to ‘tourist’ visitors to Florence.
  • St. Mark’s is now the sole Church of England chaplaincy to Florence.
  • The church is part of an old Medici Palace that was owned by Machiavelli, renovated in a neo-renaissance style with beautiful icons.
