Sightseeing

Florence (Firenze) is the capital city of the Tuscany (Toscana) region and is well known for its important contributions to art and architecture during the Middle Ages as well during the Renaissance period. It is home to the Uffizi, a gallery containing some of the most important works of the Renaissance, Bargello, a museum of Renaissance sculptures including Michelangelo’s David, Pitti Palace, the Ponte Vecchio, and of course home to some of Italy’s best food and wine!

Florence is also central to many other cities in Tuscany. A quick train ride or drive by car can take you to the Piazza del Campo in Siena where they hold the famous Il Palio horse race, or the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Tuscany is also home to some of Italy’s finest wine producing regions, including Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino—a short drive from Florence takes you into the hills of Chianti where you can sample amazing wines and tour stunning hillside castles.
